Beijing Olympics Mascots
This Olympics Beijing 2008 Fuwa will be Olympics Official Mascots.
They were introduced at the Workers' Gymnasium in Beijing. These Olympic mascots will be carrying the message of friendship, peace and well wishes from China.
The designed of mascots for children message is universal in its appeal. The five Fuwa are formed from 4 of Chinas most popular animals, the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow and the fifth is the Olympic Flame.
The Fuwa each have a rhyming two-syllable name, an established way of expressing friendliness for children in China.
Fuwa is also supposed to represent the land, beliefs and hopes of people from every part of China. In ancient Chinese culture there's a custom of spreading good wishes with signs and symbols.
The Fuwa symbolizes a different blessing for each one of the five.
Here are the 5 China Beijing Olympics Games Mascots : 1. Beibei - Fish 2. Jingjing - Panda 3. Huanhuan - Olympic Flame 4. Yingying - Tibetan Antelope 5. Nini - Swallow.
If you were to put their names together - Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni - that mean "Welcome to Beijing."
According to the press releases the "Fuwa will seek to unite the world in peace and friendship through the Olympic spirit."
The official word is that they are dedicated to helping Beijing 2008 spread its theme of One World, One Dream to every continent, Fuwa reflect the deep desire of the Chinese people to reach out to the world in friendship through the Games and to invite every man, woman and child to take part in the great celebration of human solidarity that China will host in the light of the flame in 2008.
The Olympics have always held out to many the ability of man-kind to unite and celebrate in the spirit of sport. It is also a means for all of us to understand the importance of not only developing our mind but our bodies as well.
